CLP® Training Content

Quickly delivering value and innovating in ever-faster cycle times has become a key differentiator between good and great enterprises. Large product-development organizations are turning to agile principles and large-scale Scrum to sustainably deliver that innovation at a fast pace.

The key questions many large product development organizations face are:

  • How to apply what works well on a small scale to large scale developments?
  • What’s the design of an organization that optimizes for learning, agility and customer value?
  • Can I redesign my organization to create an environment to succeed in the long run?

What is Large-Scale Scrum (LeSS)?

Large-Scale Scrum (LeSS) is to organizations what Scrum is to teams: a simple, powerful, large-scale product development framework designed to evolve into something that fits perfectly within any unique context. LeSS builds on top of Scrum principles such as empiricism, cross-functional, self-managing teams, and provides a framework to apply them at scale. It presents simple structural rules and guidelines on how to adopt Scrum in large product development.

In this 3-day Certified LeSS Practitioner Training you will learn the LeSS rules, the principles, guides and experiments. Key learnings of this Certified LeSS Practitioner Course are:

  • Explain what LeSS is and what LeSS is not
  • Explain the LeSS roles and their purpose
  • Explain how LeSS is a Scrum-based approach to scaling
  • Explain the dynamics of component teams vs. feature teams
  • Summarize the impact of LeSS on organizational design (structures, policies, etc.)
  • Understand how your current organizational design influences the agility of your organization
  • Understand whether and how your organization can benefit from implementing LeSS
  • Explain how LeSS scales over approx. 8 teams

Agenda

The following topics will be covered in the Certified LeSS Practitioner course:

  • Why LeSS?
  • Scrum, LeSS and LeSS Huge Overview
  • LeSS rules und principles
  • Organizing around customer value and feature teams
  • What is your product?
  • Definition of Done and its impacts
  • Product Owner and Product Backlog in LeSS
  • Role of management
  • Organizational impacts and typical LeSS organizational structure
  • LeSS Product Backlog Refinement, Sprint Planning, Review and Retrospective
  • Consideration on technical practices when scaling
  • Integration & coordination
  • Adopting LeSS in your organization
  • Scrum Master role within LeSS

Prerequisites

The only prerequisite to this Large-Scale Scrum Course is basic Scrum knowledge. That can be picked up by attending a Certified Scrum Master or a Professional Scrum Master course, or thoroughly reading Scrum introduction material such as the Scrum Primer and practicing Scrum.

You need a stable and fast Internet connection, a webcam, a headset, and an environment where you can focus and interact with others online if needed.

Recommended Preparation

Large-Scale Scrum Course participants should review Scrum introduction material such as the Scrum Primer. Another great preparation for this Course is the Scrum Test on less.works. It’s strongly encouraged to do this test before attending the course.

Event Information

(Not relevant if you only want to attend the pCLP® online course).

  • Measures for face-to-face Certified LeSS Practitioner Training

The health of our participants has top priority. Hygiene measures are of course particularly important here:

Large rooms / distance: Our Certified LeSS Practitioner Trainings are carried out in particularly large rooms so that all participants could sit at enough distance from one another so that they do not need a mask at their own place.

Masks: Of course, we still value the exchange between the Certified LeSS Practitioner participants and interactive exercises, for this all participants need masks.

Disinfection: Dispensers for disinfectants are available at all times in the training rooms.

Ventilation: The rooms are permanently ventilated during training. If you are sensitive to drafts, we can take this into account when choosing a seat. We would also like to ask you to bring suitable clothing with you.

Food & drink: We offer each Certified LeSS Practitioner participant their own portions. There are no buffets.

We are monitoring the situation very closely. If it becomes necessary to convert a Certified LeSS Practitioner training course into online format, we will inform you about this immediately. You can then decide, free of charge, to reschedule your Certified LeSS Practitioner participation to another date.

If you have the necessary technical infrastructure, you may benefit much more from the online Certified LeSS Practitioner training.

Erfahrungen & Bewertungen zu Robert Briese

Konstantin Ribel is a Scrum Master – the first fomenter, or the lone nut, of the LeSS Huge adoption at BMW Group’s Autonomous Driving division.

Konstantin worked in various engineering fields such as complex hardware design, embedded SW development and project management in United Kingdom and Germany.

He is convinced that today’s organizations need a radical structural change to shift mindsets, and unleash collective intelligence. His vision is to foster organizations where human intelligence and efforts are highly respected.

Strong desire to learn and question the status quo helped him in bringing LeSS Huge to BMW Group’s Autonomous Driving division.
