Discovering “Why LeSS?”… the Hard Way, at Sys (fictional name)

Efficient and agile product development in a complex environment
Sys, a global software company, was faced with the challenge of developing an innovative e-commerce platform that would enable customers to seamlessly discover, test and purchase software - comparable to the user-friendliness of Amazon.
The previous working methods were characterized by fragmented teams, long integration cycles and an inefficient development process. Weeks of testing and rigid processes prevented rapid adaptations and innovations. In addition, traditional management and organizational structures led to a high level of complexity, which made it difficult to implement agile principles.
The goal was an agile, scalable organization that overcomes both technical and procedural hurdles to enable more efficient and customer-oriented product development.

LeSS as a framework for more agility and scalability
To overcome this challenge, Large Scale Scrum (LeSS) was introduced as an organizational framework. With the support of an external coach, the structure was redesigned from the ground up to anchor agile principles not only in individual teams, but in the entire organization.
We analysed the existing processes, reduced unnecessary complexity and ensured that teams could work independently and synchronized. A clear focus was placed on systemic thinking in order to better understand the interactions within the organization and to optimize them in a targeted manner.
Instead of gradual adjustments, which often did not resolve existing hurdles, a radical approach was chosen: A far-reaching reorganization created the basis for long-term agility, faster decision-making processes and a sustainable improvement in development processes.
Your benefits
Agility requires structural change: Without far-reaching organizational changes, agile methods remain ineffective.
Systemic thinking is crucial: a holistic approach helps to overcome resistance and achieve sustainable improvements.
Scaled agility increases speed and innovation: LeSS enabled shorter development cycles and a more flexible product strategy.
Our consulting in
facts, figures and data
Our collaboration with Sys's IT department shows how technical excellence and structural changes can go hand in hand. By introducing Large-Scale Scrum, over 1,000 automated tests and a continuous delivery pipeline, we have not only significantly increased the quality of delivery, but also shortened release cycles from six to two months - while at the same time increasing flexibility and stability in the development process.

Release cycle accelerated (from 6 to 2 months)
Implemented over 1000 automated tests, including a continuous delivery pipeline with full infrastructure automation – boosting speed and confidence across the organization
Delivery quality increased through the introduction of LeSS
